John was classically trained from Le Cordon Blue, Scottsdale, AZ. From there, his culinary roots were established working with industry leading Chefs and iconic fine dining restaurants in Arizona and California. He has been recognized with a nomination from the James Beard House.
At MADRE Chef John Cuevas is creating his own niche of non-traditional upscale tacos . He believes in creating high quality, ingredient driven, scratch-made, dishes that are both beautiful and delicious.
With a rich background in fine dining, Julie and John naturally bring the most important elements of fine dining to the more relaxed style found at MADRE. Warm hospitality, quality ingredients, delicious food and beverage.
Julie's passion for Food and Beverage stems from her childhood years where she witnessed the love for cooking and pleasure of enjoying delicious meals with family around the table. It had been her lifelong dream to open a restaurant. Prior to opening MADRE Julie spent 15 years working at the iconic Montage, Laguna Beach, CA., a triple Five Star property and left as the Director of Food & Beverage.
The summer of 2017 John and Julie moved to Boise to pursue their dream to open a restaurant to call their own.
MADRE opened April 2018.
